The biomedical research of the last decade proves the efficacy of cannabinoids as adjuvants in treatment for Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Cancer, Diabetes, and the list goes on. This is the reason why thousands of people in the world, already rip the benefits from Medicinal Cannabis use on a controlled therapeutic environment by a physician.
This group of compounds represents a new line of drugs that is revolutionizing the international medical market, thus, improving the quality of life of patients for being effective and with low toxicity action.
The role of the organized civil society has been key to the regulatory process of Medical Cannabis in Mexico. Now, it is time to address the issue in the public policy agenda from a clinical perspective, through competent medical associations that promote a scientific approach to the inclusion of cannabinoids in the medical-pharmacological sector.
The Introduction to CBD Medical Use, will be an exclusive event mainly addressed to the key actors of the medical sector and related professional health areas to the process of implementation, research and education about the clinical use of cannabis, under the direction of three renowned medical and pharmaceutical associations.
Dr. Gady Zabicky
Medical surgeon, psychiatrist and specialist in addictology by the UNAM and the INP “Ramón de la Fuente”.
Founder and director of the Program in Investigations related to substances and its management, from 2000-2006 in the National Institute of Psychiatry “Juan Ramón de la Fuente”.
Founding member of the Collective “For an Integral Policy Towards Drugs” (CUPIHD). He served as Professor in the Master of Science in Medical Sciences at the UNAM and more recently in the graduate course in the Postgraduate Unit of the same house of studies of the course “Marijuana and Health”. He has written and contributed to a dozen books and publications on addictions, most recently titled “Marijuana and Health” by the FCE.
He has given hundreds of conferences on the subject nationally and internationally, including forums on the legalization of cannabis made by the Legislative Branch and other governmental bodies in the last decade.
IBQ. Marcial Ávalos Ruíz
Biochemical Engineer by the National School of Biological Sciences of the National Polytechnic Institute. He began his professional career in the General Directorate of Control of Food, Beverages and Medicines of the Ministry of Health, where he remained for 14 years becoming head of the Control Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Establishments.
He has completed the courses Sanitary Verification, Implementation of Standards & Safety in Laboratories, and has degrees in Pharmaceutical Validation and International Certification, as well as in Lead Auditor in Integrated Management Systems ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015, OHSAS 18001: 2007 and ISO 22000: 2005. These last two degrees from the TEC of Monterrey.
He is a founding member of the Mexican College of Biochemical Engineers and has collaborated in some periods as a member of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Ignacio Romero Romo
Juan Ignacio Romero Romo is the head of the Palliative Pain and Care Clinic service. He has 36 years of experience in the accompaniment of patients using medicinal cannabis.
He was the first Mexican doctor who brought the country and used morphine a little more than 30 years ago, this in order to eliminate and control the pain of terminal patients; Nowadays it is very used.
He is one of the main panelists in Mexico about the clinical uses of cannabis and has participated in different national and international panels regarding the medical and pharmacological advances of cannabinoids.
Dr. Raúl Porras
Surgeon of the UNAM, has a curricular certification of cannabis treatments by The Medical Cannabis Institute. Ph.D. student in Biomedical Sciences at the Siglo XXI Medical Center.
Experience for more than 3 years providing advice and medical support to patients who require cannabis treatment, as well as guidance and advice to related organizations.
President of Cannapeutas A.C. 2017 to date. Private consultation of general medicine, guidance and advice to patients and organizations on cannabinoids, 2015 to date.
He has participated in different panels on the clinical use of cannabinoids in Mexico.
QFB. Carlo Vargas
Carlo Vargas is a Pharmaceutical Chemist who specializes in Biotechnology.
He currently works in the area of Nanotechnology for the nutraceutical industry and directs the areas of Business Development, R & D and Intellectual Property of four sister companies, two of which is co-founder (www.nanobc.life; www.vitalnanaotech.com), being Chemical Industries Kemed (www.nanotechkemed.mx) headquartered in Tijuana, BC, Mexico.
In the last 12 years, Kemed has specialized in nutraceutical administration systems based on Nanoparticles using Nanoemulsions Technology where innovation has led them to register more than 35 formulas at Cofepris, as well as a patent and the signing of technology transfer agreements to third parties.
Dr. Luis David Suárez
Doctor graduated from the UNAM with a Medical Specialty in Acupuncture and Phytotherapy. He has another specialty in Physiological Regulation Medicine. He is a Member of the American Conference for the Advancement of Medicine, and of the Mexican and Spanish Ozone Therapy Associations.
Since 2015 he is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Scientific Committee in Ozonotherapy. She has been practicing functional medicine for more than 12 years, and for 6 years she has been working with medicinal cannabis in her private practice.
He is a member of the International Association of Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM) where he assumes the responsibility of representing the highest international standards in cannabis medicine in Mexico.
QFB. Volker Fritz Eduard
An industrial pharmaceutical chemist by the National School of Biological Sciences, he specialized in Advanced Organic Chemistry at the UAEM. It has training in microdoses and formulas of medicinal plants.
Author of several publications, since 1970, he has written about different aspects of organic chemistry.
He has worked as a researcher in the Development Laboratory of the CIVAC plant and has extensive managerial experience in the production area of companies in the pharmaceutical and chemical-pharmaceutical fields.
